A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Chemical Operator–Level 1 at Atotech USA, LLC MSD, you will partner with Operations Group to ensure high quality chemical products are safety mixed, packaged and transported with in the facility following all company and government regulations. In this role, you will report to Production Supervisor.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Responsible for prioritizing duties consistent with the production schedule to ensure manufacturing goals are met.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of necessary paperwork without errors.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous chemicals without causing incidents.
  • Package chemicals according to all manufacturing packaging controls to ensure DOT compliance.
  • Participate in team meetings and activities, which is consistent with meeting team goals.
  • Responsible for the management of hazardous waste in accordance with all company and government regulations.
  • This includes the minimization of all waste that is generated from all activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a Chemical Operator become familiar with the raw materials, equipment, manufacturing procedures, batch sheets, packaging and labeling according to Atotech and government standards, health and safety, clean-up procedures and waste management of the following products: liquid cleaners, non-cyanide bearing, non-chrome bearing, and non-flammable products.
  • Perform sundry duties as applied to ensure growth, learning and service to customer both internal and external.
  • Package the chemicals into various containers such as 55 gallon, 5 gallon pails, 330 liter IBC’s fiber drums and gallon jugs for finished goods inventory.
  • Completed product, once cleared by Q.C. and correctly packaged, should be loaded onto pallets and placed into the appropriate locations in the warehouse.
  • Work overtime when it is needed and when requested by the management.
  • Suggest and implement changes to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Manufacture chemicals for the metal finishing industry to precise specifications by following batch sheets.
  • Participate in the counting of warehouse inventory annually.
  • Maintain manufacturing cleanliness and excellent housekeeping in assigned area in order to meet industrial safety standards and maintain a high level of safety and housekeeping at all times.
  • Maintain updated skills in safety and housekeeping, forklift license, ISO procedures, and any other required training.
  • Sweep and wash floors and the blender at the end of working day
  • All finished products are properly sealed and correctly labeled with the correct labels and batch numbers before being taken to warehouse.
  • Communicate with all applicable departments to ensure customer needs are met in a safe and timely manner.
  • Observe appearance of raw material and manufactured product for suspect parameters and report to the Plant Manager, and/or Quality Assurance or Manager of any noted differences.

Perform other related duties that may be assigned or associated with the responsibility of the position

Skills You Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills which includes knowledge of weights and measures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain forklift and stand-up lift certifications
  • Ability to work safely in a self-directed work team environment
  • Intermediate level computer literacy.
  • Able to work a split shift - 11am - 9:30pm M-T, and Fridays 11am - 7:30pm

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous chemical manufacturing experience
  • Exposer to process improvement programs such as 5S
  • Previous forklift experience

Supervisory Scope:

  • Reporting Relationships: Production Supervisor

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Regularly lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Long periods of standing
  • Working conditions between 50F to 110F
  • Comfortable wearing full Tyvek suit in summer conditions
