Nth Cycle is a metal refining technology company. Our Electro-Extraction technology helps recyclers and miners capture more critical minerals—for use in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, among other things—while dramatically reducing costs and emissions. We are the heart of metals processing; we are the crucial step that profitably separates critical minerals from other elements, transforming them into production-grade feedstocks for the energy transition.

POSITION DESCRIPTION.
This position will focus on operating filter presses (a range of sizes) and supporting our Chemical Engineers in Research, Experiments, Testing and Lab Maintenance when needed. You will regularly perform large scale filtrations, in addition to standard laboratory tasks and maintenance in an R&D chemistry lab space. You will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists and be involved in preparing materials and equipment for experiments and assisting in data collection. The ideal candidate works well in a team, follows detailed instructions carefully and safely, and stops to ask questions when anything is unclear.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES.
- Safely operate pumps, hydraulic filter presses, air compressors, and other equipment.
- Gathering and recording data into a lab notebook and/or Microsoft office applications.
- Clearly communicating methods used and tasks accomplished.
- Safely perform experiments in a chemistry lab setting by following SOPs.
- Observing and learning how to practice safe lab practices in an R&D environment.
- Occasionally weighing and pouring large quantities of solids containing heavy metals, and liquids including strong acids, strong bases, and strong oxidizers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualified candidates will possess a strong combination of the following:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in a chemistry laboratory setting and using laboratory PPE
- Ability to set priorities, multi-task and adapt to ever-changing needs with the proven ability to function well in a fast-paced environment required
- Ability to do hands-on work to build and construct (experience using hand tools and/or shop machines a plus)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Ability to lift 20+ pounds to counter height and over shoulders multiple times a day
- Ability to stand, move around lab and sit up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
