The Hudson Valley’s Premier Farm-to-Table Caterer seeks a qualified individual with at least 5 years in fine dining or full-service catering to join our team as Catering Chef de Cuisine. Main Course Catering is a full-service catering and event planning company located in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Just ninety miles north of New York City, the picturesque town of New Paltz offers all the amenities of upstate living. Founded in 1990, Main Course offers custom, farm-to-table catering and event planning for a variety of events, specializing in creating one-of-a-kind culinary experiences for our clients and their guests.

As the Chef de Cuisine of Main Course Catering, you will play a pivotal role in crafting custom menus and ensuring exceptional culinary experiences for our clients.

Our goal as a company is to create a collaborative environment with like-minded chefs and individuals to stay on the cutting edge of culinary trends and techniques while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with sales team and clients to design and customize menus that align with their preferences and event vision.

- Lead and mentor our culinary team, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.

- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from food preparation and cooking to final plating.

- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, as well as compliance with health and safety regulations.

- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control measures to optimize profitability.

- Continuously innovate by developing and updating recipes and menu items, incorporating seasonal and trending culinary concepts.

- Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

- Coordinate food service logistics for events in collaboration with our event planning team.

- Stay updated on industry trends, new ingredients, local offerings, and cooking techniques to elevate our offerings.

- Manage and execute culinary operation at off-site events, including setup, service, and clean up while ensuring a seamless dining experience for our client and their guests.

Qualifications

- Proven experience of at least 5 years as an Executive Chef or Head Chef in catering or fine dining.

- Culinary degree or relevant culinary certifications preferred.

- Strong leadership and team management skills are a must.

- Passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences.

- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to create a positive and uplifting culture.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and maintain energy and leadership throughout an 12-16 hour shift.

- Team-oriented attitude and focus on learning and adapting to different environments

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
