Department Chair & Associate Professor/Professor

Job Summary:

Department Chair & Associate Professor/Professor for the Nursing department to provide academic and administrative leadership and to manage the work of the Department.

The department chair leads the strategic initiatives of the department.  In addition to teaching, specific duties and responsibilities include: budget oversight; curriculum development and implementation; recruitment and professional development of faculty; faculty and staff evaluation;  hiring, mentoring and supervision of faculty and staff;  scheduling;  communication of University and divisional policies and practices to the Department; representation of the College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science to the University and broader public; and serving as a liaison with local, state, and national professional organizations and accrediting bodies.  Additional chair responsibilities are outlined in the Miami University Policy Library.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tenured Associate or Full Professor in the College of Liberal Arts & Applied Science at Miami University. An excellent record of accomplishment in teaching, service and research. Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (s) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Administrative Code; Experience for at least five years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a faculty member in a registered nursing education program. A master's degree with a major in nursing and an earned doctoral degree; current valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a current appointment in the Nursing Department. Administrative experiences suggesting a demonstrated ability to lead an academic department.
