Increasing demand for observational research (now commonly referred to as real-world evidence [RWE]) from regulatory and reimbursement authorities makes observational research a key component of drug development and commercialization. Amgen's Center for Observational Research (CfOR) is a global organization with an industry-leading analytical capability that generates RWE to support business needs across a product’s lifecycle. CfOR’s scientists partner with internal stakeholders and industry experts to design, conduct, interpret and publish observational research that informs decision-making from the early development of a molecule to the design of clinical trials and the safety and efficacy of Amgen medicines.

This role is focused on managing all aspects of Center of Observational Research (CfOR) projects and non-interventional studies ensuring timely completion within budget and at the highest quality. This includes collaborating with all areas affected or supporting the project, throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work with global cross-functional teams to define project deliverables, milestones, tasks, identify and manage risks. Create roadmaps, reports, and dashboards for project tracking.

  • Apply Agile principles in all project management activities.

  • Develop necessary plans including communication plans, stakeholder analysis, implementation plans, sustainment plans and project schedules.

  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings (including setting agendas, writing meeting minutes and tracking action items to ensure completion)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with CfOR leaders to understand business objectives and priorities.

  • Identify process gaps root cause and generate creative solutions.

  • Communicate status and issues effectively to appropriate parties, both within CfOR and across Amgen.

  • Manage initiatives to improve and support CfOR capabilities and effectiveness.

  • Help increase efficiency across CfOR with innovative ideas in using technology to replace manual operations.

  • Build and maintain positive collaborations, communicating, seeking advice, and facilitating critical business decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relative experience

Or

Associate degree and 6 years of relative experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of relative experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science. Advanced degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably at least 2 within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

  • Excellent written, analytical, and oral communication skills. Able to clearly and effectively present information.

  • Experience in Agile project management and Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFE, etc.) highly preferred.

  • Scrum Master and/or Scrum Product Owner Certification highly preferred.

  • Experienced in project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, MS Project, highly desirable.

  • PMP certification or a master’s degree in project management is highly desirable but not required.

  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools and get to advanced level.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate ambiguity, complexity, and competing priorities in a matrixed and fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated collaboration & relationship building.

  • Demonstrated ability in applying Agile principles and adapting them in managing diverse projects and cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, drive detailed project planning, and lead projects execution.

  • Demonstrated proficiency & adaptability with related software tools (PowerPoint, Miro, Tableau, Visio, SharePoint, MS Teams, OneNote, Office 365, etc.)

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
