POSITION OBJECTIVE of CFO candidate
The person in this position shall be primarily responsible preparing financial reports, maintaining records of company assets. preparing and ensuring the accuracy of all ledgers, accounts, portfolios and balance sheets. budgeting, payroll and general monthly expenses.
They will also be responsible for recording and producing accurate and proper payments to suppliers and subcontractors. They must assist payees in submitting proper paperwork including, but not limited to invoices, subcontractor pay applications, W-9 forms, insurance certificates, partial or final lien releases for vendors, as well as satisfaction of lien notifications. All source documents must be scanned into company’s accounting software and properly filed for accounting and project management purposes.
This is a full-time salary position. The direct supervisor will be the Controller. This position requires a detail-oriented candidate with the ability to perform property and construction accounting related functions. They will also be responsible for overseeing the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable and project management transactions by supervising the accounting team. This candidate will also be expected to answer and redirect phone calls to staff, as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations for multiple properties, 1000+ units
· Submit cash balances and cash flow report for Controller approval and submission to partners
· Record monthly adjusting, prepaid insurance and accrual entries
· Reconcile security deposit and reserve cash accounts on a monthly basis
· Maintain permanent loans by recording monthly ACH payments, preparing loan reconciliations and ensuring loan compliance
· Monitor cash balances and communicate receipts from 3rd party for tenant payments to property staff
· Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance reports
· Compile monthly draft financial statement packages for CPA to finalize
· Assist in annual budget preparation
· Submit final and approved financial packages with supporting schedules to investors by the deadline
· Oversee accounting staff and prioritize the accounts payable process according to payment terms, department policies and deadlines
· Work to maintain high levels of accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness
Other qualifications:
· Bilingual -English/Spanish (Preferred)
· Strong analytical, organizational, supervisory and problem-solving skills and great work ethics
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Property Management and Development company
· Knowledge of Yardi (Preferably Voyager), Quickbooks and MS Office, Advanced Excel, pivot tables and VLOOKUPS, a plus
