Functioning under the clinical guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Medical Assistant participates in the assessment and care of clinic patients. This involves a variety of tasks requiring judgment born of solid knowledge and expertise in general nursing theory. Primary responsibility is to assist in the assessment and care of patients within the scope of her/his training limitations. May perform limited exams, take vital signs, and perform laboratory tests within regulatory limitations.
Education and Experience- High school graduation or GED equivalent is required
- Completion of a formal program that results in the designation of a Medical Assistant is required.
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
- Current CPR certification is required
- One to three years of experience as a CMA/RMA in a physician's office or community healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Prepares and maintains podiatry instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Performs, monitors, and records all sterilization activities on log including weekly biological spore testing
- Maintains proper aseptic technique during podiatry procedures
- Properly sterilizes and stores instruments per manufacturer instructions for use and CDC guidelines.
- Routinely cleans, disinfects, and restocks examination rooms.
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on all podiatry equipment.
- Adheres to CDC guidelines for proper infection control guidelines in the podiatry, setting including wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand washing requirements.
