POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) / Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides culturally specific peer support to refugee-immigrant and black, indigenous, and people of color clients who may be experiencing substance abuse/misuse (SUD) issues in the community. This position facilitates contact with providers, assists with case management, care coordination, 1:1 peer counseling, and addresses issues that may be barriers to accessing treatment and/ or support in the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Meet regularly with clients, support clients in recovery by providing coaching and mentoring, and model healthy and empowered behavior
• Manage a caseload of clients
• Conduct outreach, education, and community engagement activities
• Communicate with the treatment team about problems and concerns
• Help facilitate culturally specific Certified Recovery mentor training
• Provide case management and care coordination
• Document services using electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide education and employment support to clients
• Support clients and community members in a culturally humble and empathetic manner
• Acts as a positive role model for individuals being served and exploring their own path to wellness and recovery.
• Acts as an advocate for individuals being served when appropriate, both within the organization and with other entities.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant program/department requirements, including and not limited to adhering to all record-keeping and reporting requirements.
• Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree
preferred. Lived experience as it relates to the program, services and client population.
Credentials: Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) required (or complete within 60 days of hire, training is provided).
General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work well under pressure and work effectively in a multicultural setting, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to strictly adhere to HIPAA standards to ensure client confidentiality. General experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Transportation: This position requires reliable transportation for business purposes, such as between work locations and community settings.
Language Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English. Fluency in the additional following language(s): Arabic, Burmese, Dari, French, Karen, Pashto, Rohingya, Spanish, Somali, Swahili, and Ukrainian preferred.
Clearance:Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender, ORCHARDS background clearance, SAM/OIG.

Vacation includes up to 2 weeks in the first year, with an increase up to 3 weeks in the second year and incrementally up to 5 weeks after 6 years (based on hours worked). Up to 2 ½ weeks of Sick leave for you or to take care of your immediate family (based on hours worked). 10 Paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays each year.
