Certified Medical Coder

This is a full-time on-site position working in our Waukesha Clinic.  There is the possibility of working from home one day a week after the successful completion of orientation.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Review physician coding for daily charge completion

• Coding and billing hospital visits, surgeries, and circumcisions

• Quarterly physician E/M audits

• Front desk/ scheduling/ surgery scheduling inquiries

• Maintain up to date knowledge of current coding practices through education

• Monitor and complete prior authorizations for certain services as needed

• Perform insurance inquiries including but not limited to verification of eligibility, claim denials, overpayment requests, etc.

• Answer patient inquiries and process patient payments

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Certified Medical Coder, one year of coding experience preferred

• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding

• Ability to multi-task, exceptional organization, and interpersonal skills

• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with all levels of management, staff, physicians, and external vendors

• Detail oriented and the ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently

• Ability to analyze problems and follow through with effective solutions

• Willingness to be cross trained in other functions within the Business Office

• Demonstrates qualities of a team player

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED

• Coding Credential including, but not limited to CPC, CCS, CCS-P through AHIMA/AAPC

• Coding hospital/facility inpatient and outpatient services

• E/M Auditing experience; 2023 guidelines a plus

Computer Skills:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and EPIC software.
