Desert Trauma Surgeons (DTS), a private Trauma Surgery Physician Practice in Lynwood California, seeks an experienced MEDICAL ASSISTANTwithADVANCEDADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS to help us grow and thrive. Responsibilities:
- Serves as the medical administrative assistant, scheduling patients for Trauma and Acute Care Surgery clinic follow-up and elective operating room procedures as needed.
- Manage photographic documentation of wound care for the clinic.
- Perform non-invasive technical support services for clinic patients.
- Establish and maintain communication methods for patient correspondence (e.g., Virtual telehealth).
- Manage transmission of daily face sheets and consult stickers and other related materials to the RCM department. Respond to requests for information from RCM. Provide additional information as necessary to adjudicate claims in a timely manner (e.g., medical records, letter of medical necessity, clinical documentation support).
- Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of the practice management/billing software.
- Perform medical receptionist duties. Answer telephone, routine medical and administrative inquiries, take messages, and provide information.
- Manage outpatient clinic settings. Prepare patients for examination procedures, including escorting patients to the exam room; interviewing patients to obtain basic medical information; record patient medical history; and obtain patient vital signs (if applicable).
- Coordinate and maintain inventory control for medical supplies to ensure an efficient flow of operations.
- Maintain patient clinic files and assists in establishing office systems.
- Handle confidential patient files with the highest degree of privacy, discretion, and professionalism.
- Communicate with hospital social workers and patients’ family members to complete required forms such as disability, FMLA, and CA EDD unemployment applications.
- Support the Lead Nurse Practitioner with coordinating clinic duties.
- Other duties that may arise occasionally and are assigned to the employee.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited school
- BLS Certification
- Minimum two years of Medical Assistant experience in a professional medical practice
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Customer Service Experience
- Bilingual/Spanish

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
