Kenai Aviation Training Academy is a FAA (Part 141) Certified Flight school looking for CFI’s to join our team of dedicated instructors. As a Flight Instructor with (KATA) you have a path to your final career. Once you have reached the minimum of 500 hours our partner company ,Kenai Aviation can cross train you in the Cessna 206. You would then begin flying charters to remote locations within Alaska. You would also fly from Kenai to Anchorage International Airport moving both freight and passengers. You would get to fly passengers on a number of scenic flight routes, touring volcanos, glaciers and wildlife. For those MEI instructors, once you reach 1500 hours there is an opportunity for an interview for the Tecnam flying scheduled service between Kenai and Anchorage. The next and final step to prep you for your final job is the King Air transition. You can fly the King Air as backup on the scheduled route. You would fly charters throughout the state of Alaska and occasional trips to the lower 48 single pilot at 28000 feet in a pressurized aircraft. For those needing advanced ratings and checkrides we have a DPE on staff. Kenai Aviation Training Academy is a partner with the Horizon Airlines Pilot Development Program and has good relationships with many other operators within the State of Alaska who look to us for quality candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ground and flight training operations dispatch and scheduling
  • Safely operates training aircraft in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Syllabi.
  • Coordinates the flight training schedule with students and staff in compliance with scheduling policies.
  • Fuel training aircraft as necessary
  • Provide and maintain Part 141 student records ,ensure student logbooks are up to date and properly endorsed

FAA, VA, and State regulations:

  • Maintains individual student records needed for student billing and tracking.
  • Instruct students in both ground knowledge and flight training.
  • Schedule student lessons as needed.
  • Keep track of student progress and assign materials for following lessons IAW applicable Syllabi.
  • Conduct Demo/ Introductory flights and provide potential students with flight training information.
  • Conduct Flight Reviews.
  • Keep up to date on FARs and Regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Current FAA CFI certificate and Flight Review
  • Current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class Medical Certificate
  • Preferred: Instrument Instructor (CFII) certificate
  • Preferred: Multi Engine Instructor (MEI) certificate
  • Preferred: Airplane Single Engine Sea (ASES) certificate
  • Preferred: Tailwheel Experience
  • Ability to follow teaching syllabus.
  • Must be self-motivated to keep students on task.
  • Good communication skills with office staff and students and maintenance

Compensation:

  • $25-$35/hour DOE

Schedule:

  • Full time/Part time
  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend availability

  • Kenai, AK 99611: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work
