Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes. Your expertise in medical coding systems and terminology will ensure the proper documentation and reimbursement for medical services provided.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures
- Assign appropriate codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and other coding systems
- Ensure coding compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies and provide provider training as needed
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and quality of coded data
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations
- Assist with medical collection efforts by providing accurate coding information
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a medical office or healthcare facility setting
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding systems
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software applications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

Pay: $17.81 - $21.45 per hour
