JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer
DEPARTMENT: Boys and Girls Club
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Salary: $30.53 non-negotiable

SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Boys & Girls Club (“Club”) Board of Directors (“Board”) Chairperson (“Chairperson”) this position will primarily be responsible for providing leadership and direction in overseeing strategic planning and operation of the organization, in support of organizational mission and goals. Provides leadership, direction and support to the Board in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocation and managing resources, and establishing policies. Provides leadership and direction to staff management and partnership development in carrying out the key roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensures the effective operation and delivery of programs within the Club and community
  • Supports the organization’s mission and principles
  • Maintains an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes and uses outcome measures to demonstrate effectiveness
  • Establishes and monitors adherence to policies and procedures
  • Implements programs, services, and activities that support youth development outcomes
  • Implements a strategic planning process that results in the development and implementation of a quality strategic plan
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for improvement and implements plans to improve using KPIs and data analytics
  • Identifies, recruits, and develops effective board members.
  • Ensures active participation by board members and supports effective board roles and functioning
  • Ensures the Board members are provided with the information and support necessary to fulfill their objectives
  • Ensures the annual budget is funded and organization has adequate cash flow
  • Develops strategic plans to generate revenue through a variety of fundraising techniques
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits donors
  • Oversee planning and implementation of special events
  • Develop, implements, and monitors the Club’s annual budget
  • Implements administrative and operational systems to support effective operations
  • Ensures productive and effective staff performance, with a focus on Club and child safety; providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for professional development
  • Develops and implements plans for updating existing technology and resources
  • Acquires and/or allocates funds to implement and update existing technology and resources
  • Ensures the maintenance of Club technology and information management systems
  • Develops strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials
  • Develops collaborative partnerships with other youth services organizations, members, parents, families, funders, and community organizations
  • Increases visibility of Club programs, services, and activities and maintains public trust
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of subordinates to include; mentoring, coaching, and evaluating performance; hiring of employees; recommend transfer, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary actions.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • May be assigned special projects periodically by the Board
  • Attend meetings
  • Attend mandatory trainings
  • Travel as required to perform duties
  • Perform related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

K NOWLEDGE OF:
  • Child growth and development principles
  • Program mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys and Girls Clubs
  • Principles and practices of managing nonprofits
  • Resource development activities and sources of funding
  • Basic asset management including financial resources and property
A BI L I T Y TO:
  • Apply cultural sensitivity to cultural relevant programming, primarily Native American
  • Plan and implement effective operations
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, and decision making
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with the Club, staff, community groups, and other related agencies
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Operate standard office and classroom equipment including a computer and assigned software
  • Observe and follow health and safety regulations
  • Maintain files
  • Work with minimal supervision on assigned duties
E DUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A n equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. T wo (2) years of related work experience will be equal to 30 college credits and vice versa.
Associates in Arts Degree in Business or Child Development or related field from an accredited college or university and minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club . OR
High School Diploma or equivalency certificate required and four (4) four years of related experience and minimum of three (3) years increasingly responsible experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club or related field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at a time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registration are to be covered by employee, unless offered by the Tribe.

  • Prior to hiring and throughout employment must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License and maintain insurability under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy
  • Requires regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with P.L.101-630
  • Requires throughout employment maintaining a CPR/AED/First Aid Card or Certification

TMDCI Member/Indian Preference Policy:
