Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Tutor and Center Assistant to join our team. As a Tutor, you will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to students of various elementary school ages and educational backgrounds. Whether it's guiding students through the programs we create or assisting students with homework, your role will be crucial in helping students achieve their academic goals.
As a Center Assistant, the main priority is to help facilitate the day-to-day operations of the center. Checking students in, monitoring the students in class, test proctoring, taking calls, taking notes, and regular administrative duties. This role is flexible, day shifts, weekend shifts, night shifts. We'll work around the availability that is set by the candidate(s).
Responsibilities:
TUTOR:
- Follow protocol, lesson plans, and training courses as prescribed by the Center Director and Director of Education
- A tutor in this position should provide instruction in Math, English/Reading, and Phonics. Also, a tutor should be able to utilize our supplemental activities on a regular basis to ensure student understanding.
- Take good lesson and session notes with error analysis to monitor student progress and help parents understand the student's strengths and weaknesses.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote active learning while also adapting when necessary
- Collaborate with Directors and teacher colleagues to ensure student success
CENTER ASSISTANT:
- Being proactive with administrative duties. Making copies, checking on the teachers, helping when needed with a variety of tasks
- Answering the business phone and problem solving when the need arises
- Organizing student files and binders, materials, and table tools
- Test proctoring. Each student that starts with us goes through an onboarding process and testing is essential to know where each student needs help.
- Note taking. Whether it is a phone call with a parent or during a proctored test, it is important to take notes so that the Directors are able to help the individual using accurate information.
- Adaptability. This position requires a candidate to problem-solve and adapt. As an example: a candidate may be a tutor for a night because of an emergency or another teacher out sick, that is a role that needs to be filled.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree would be awesome)
- Proven experience working with students
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional techniques
- Familiarity with special education needs and strategies (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students
- Proficiency in using technology for instructional and training purposes
- Classroom experience
-The Center Assistant requires adequate experience in customer care, time management, scheduling appointments, administrative duties, test proctoring, and teaching.
