Position: Cattle Health
Reports To: Cattle Manager
Accountabilities: Pen Walking, Cattle Treatment, Cattle Processing
General Description:
This position is responsible for the daily monitoring, inspection, and assessment of cattle, their health, and their environment to ensure their well being as well as the realization of their performance potential. On a daily basis this person will:
- Walk each pen of cattle in the facility
- Visually appraise each individual animal in the pen
- Remove sick or injured animals from pens for treatment
- Safely operate a skid steer as needed
- Assist with the diagnosis and treatment of sick or injured cattle
- Assist with the processing of pens of cattle
- Assist with sorting of market ready cattle
- Manage special pens such as lame or hospital pens
- Keep accurate and detailed records of daily activities
- Periodically assist in feed processing, feed making, feed delivery
- Periodically assist in maintenance and upkeep of equipment and facilities
- Promptly report problems or concerns
- Act professionally towards visitors of the facility (customers, salespeople, guests, etc.)
- Be punctual, honest, and accountable for their responsibilities in the position
Time Commitment: Full Time (40+ Hours/Week)
Basis of Pay: Hourly
Compensation: Negotiable based on experience and proficiency.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Holidays
- Weekends as needed
Experience:
- Farming: 1 year (Required)
- Livestock: 1 year (Required)
Ability to Relocate:
- Breckenridge, MI 48615: Relocate before starting work (Required)
