Starting salary at $50,000 to $55,000.
Job Overview: As the SMSC Catering and Event Specialist, you will be responsible for working directly with internal and external clients planning, preparing, and executing catering and events both onsite at SMSC, and offsite throughout the Twin Cities metro area. Event planning includes working with the guest on room setup (if applicable), guest counts, food and beverage, audio visual needs, and special requests. Once the event is booked, the Catering and Events Specialist will work with the Environmental Services team by communicating room set up requests. The Catering and Event Specialist is responsible for planning, ordering, and overseeing the production of all food and beverages for events both onsite and offsite. Works directly with the Playworks Kitchen Manager to coordinate the Kitchen Associates for preparing, delivering, and serving food and beverages for events. The SMSC Catering and Events Specialist is responsible for ensuring proper and safe food storage, prepping, reheating, and serving of catered meals. Exceptional guest service, organization, and leadership skills are valuable to the success of this position.

Preferred Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Food Protection Manager Certification preferred.
- 3-5 years food service kitchen management/catering experience.
- Working knowledge of food safety standards, preparations, menu planning, inventory and ordering programs.
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment with ever changing deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license required with good driving record.
