Hotel Teatro is looking for a Catering and Event Sales Manager to join their Sales Team!
As a Catering and Event Sales Manager you will be responsible for the development of Catering and banquet business including solicitation of new customer relationships, fostering existing relationships and negotiation of business through proposals and contracts to close business. Creative design of menus and Events to maximize revenue and Event experience. Executing on-site events and ensuring the consistency of high-level service throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases of events.
Essential Job Functions
- Primary role is selling catering business and servicing all groups booked into the hotel.
- Consistently provide service that meets the Hotel’s Preferred 4 Star and 4 Diamond service standards; Attends necessary training sessions for supervisors/managers.
- Detailing all aspects of on-site group events and being the main point of contact with definite groups.
- Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, existing relationships, email outreach, referrals, networking, etc.)
- Plan, upsell, and detail the program with the client, including verification and modification of space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc
- Prepare accurate and well written correspondence including letters, contracts, reports, event orders, schedule of events, printed menus, and e-mails using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Opera, and Outlook.
- Negotiates all catering sales contracts with appropriate rates and food & beverage minimums by using discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
- Actively sells meeting space for Catering Only groups to achieve banquet goals each quarter.
- Travel as needed to trade shows or local sales calls and networking events.
- Tracking of monthly meeting room rental, A/V and banquet sales.
- Ensure that event set-ups meet the customer's expectations by following up regularly on the status of functions including inspecting event spaces, greeting customer, make last-minute changes and additions to meet changing customer needs, coordinating outside vendor activity as necessary, conducting post-function reviews with customers and soliciting re-booking from meeting planners prior to customer's departure.
- Compile and review daily and weekly event sheets.
- Maintain an inventory of all standard department supplies and printed materials, including but not limited to Catering Corporate and wedding packets and special menus.
- Maximize food, beverage, and auxiliary revenues by selling menus, themes and experiences/activities.
- Communicate all details of assigned groups & events to all departments in a professional, thorough and timely manner by distributing Group/Event Resumes, Event Orders, 10-day event reports and internal correspondence effectively. Facilitate pre-conference meetings with clients and key hotel staff.
- Maintain a high level of service by continually providing accurate and timely information and feedback to all supporting departments.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills :
- College degree preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or business
- One to two years of previous hotel and or/sales experience
- Ability to multitask and work a flexible schedule that includes occasional weekends and evenings.
- Able to work independently as well as together with a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
