Hint Inc. is a leading flavored water company dedicated to delivering high-quality products to consumers throughout the US. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Category Manager to oversee and drive the growth of our current and future product lines. This role is crucial in shaping our market position, strategizing product assortments, and maximizing category performance.
We are looking for an experienced Category Manager with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the beverage or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing product categories, conducting market analysis, and developing strategies to drive sales and market share growth. They will assist in managing a suite of tools and reports that will be used to identify insights, opportunities, and challenges and share these strategic recommendations and insights to help drive revenue growth. S/He will have the opportunity to combine business acumen, innovative inquiry, and curiosity to help elevate the category team and insights.
The Category Manager is a member of the Sales Marketing team but works closely with the Revenue Growth Management, Field Sales, National Accounts Sales, and Brand Marketing teams, providing insight into channel trends as well as our opportunities & challenges. They will report to the Senior Manager, Sales Marketing.
Hint is headquartered in San Francisco and prefers that this person live in the greater Bay Area, however, we are open to a fully remote employee but would expect this person to work West Coast hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute category strategies and plans that align with company objectives and market trends.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis including industry developments, consumer preferences, and competitive insights, to identify growth opportunities and potential risks within the category.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, finance, revenue growth management, and product development, to develop and implement category plans that drive sales and profitability.
- Assist in managing a suite of tools and reports that will be used to identify leverageable insights, opportunities, and challenges and to provide strategic recommendations to drive growth.
- Create and present growth solutions at national, channel, and customer levels
- Work closely with the national sales team and field sales leads on regional strategy, manage scorecards, and improve execution based on localized insights - this includes improving upon and creating new tools that are turnkey for sales team to extrapolate data quickly
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience in a Category Manager or similar role within the beverage or CPG industry.
- Strong understanding of category management principles, market analysis, and consumer behavior.
- Proven experience with syndicated data and decision data/tools such as IRI POS, IRI Panel & Insight tools, Kroger Stratum/8451, SMART/SHopper360, Salesforce, Placer AI
- Advanced skills with PowerPoint and Excel required (e.g., Pivot Tables, V&H Lookups, Ifs, Sum ifs, Index, Match, VBA experience a plus) and creating presentation-ready visualizations
- Proficiency in data analysis, using tools to derive insights and make informed decisions.
- Advanced presentation and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to digest complex material
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with VIP depletions, Sengen, and other syndicated data providers is a plus.
Benefits
- Base salary of $100,000-115,000, based on location and experience. Actual salary offer may vary based on location and work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
