Purpose and Scope: Waynesboro Landscape & Garden Center is an award-winning Landscape Architecture and Construction Company for residential, commercial, and municipal landscaping. In addition, the Garden Center sits on over five acres and is home to a full-scale nursery, garden supplies, and gift shop. We are seeking motivated and dependable individuals with strong customer service skills to fill key roles in our Garden Center operation. The Cashier and Customer Service roles require the ability to develop excellent customer relationships through by utilizing communication skills, acute attention to detail, plant knowledge, and the ability to perform as part of a cohesive team.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Always interact with customers in a positive, courteous, and upbeat attitude, with a primary focus on customer service and satisfaction.
· Strive to answer the phone on the 1st ring and attend to customers within the first minute of entering the office.
· Greet customer by name, when possible, and develop rapport and customized service and buying patterns.
· Become familiar with all products we stock and special order items.
· Maintain inventory SKU’s, Tags, Etc.
· Assist other team members as needed
· Respond to customer inquiries either in person or on the phone and trouble shoot solutions
· Assist customers with purchases and provide alternative solutions / products
· Other company related duties as requested and assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· A basic knowledge of plant care
· Familiarity with different types of plants
· Experience in retail sales
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· General administrative skills
· Dependability and attention to detail
· Microsoft Office experience preferred
· Ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in all seasons including standing for long periods of time
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Cashier/Customer Service role reports to the Office Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience/Training: Experience in serving customer needs preferred.
Additional Requirements: Reliable transportation and/or ability to be on time for scheduled shifts. Closed on Sundays but this position will typically be needed for at least THREE SATURDAYS each month.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform basic physical tasks normal to the landscaping industry, including but not limited to kneeling for extended periods, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, crawling, lifting at least 50 lbs. and be able to work with arms above head level at times; must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures and in adverse weather and job site conditions. Must be able to perform basic tasks consistent with an office environment including but not limited to sitting at a desk for long periods of time, bending, crouching or kneeling to access files from ground level to 4.5 feet above the ground, pushing/pulling of file drawers, reaching in all directions and working at a computer and/or telephone for prolonged periods of time. The following capabilities are required but not limited to: able to see for purposes of reading instructions, labels and other printed matter; ability to operate computer hardware and peripheral devices; able to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/or on the telephone; able to communicate verbally so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person and/or on the telephone.
