Description

The Cash Posting Specialist receives all monies collected from patients, doctor's offices, cafeteria, insurance payors, other hospital departments, bank lockbox, wires, and mail. Verifies monies collected by other departments and notifies the department of any discrepancies. Prepares daily bank deposits and batches all funds collected in order to key all receipts appropriately to patient /guarantor accounts and/or general ledger accounts. Also uses an Access program to post managed care reimbursements and important financial information useful in the collections and customer service areas. Works closely with all departments handling day to day issues with money collections and credit card transactions procedures and problems that they may encounter. Creates and reconciles daily summary of all transactions and forwards to the Fiscal Services department. Responsible for reconciling the suspense account in order to resolve payments posted due to unknown. Maintains file system of explanation of benefits, copies of live checks, compact discs of copies of bank checks, and other financial records for use with auditors and/or whenever a record needs to be reviewed as part of a research project. Works closely with Fiscal Services department when discrepancies with bank are discovered, in order to correct transactions that caused the discrepancy. Answers the incoming phones in order to assist patients/guarantors, doctors, insurance companies in resolving their requests. Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of the Woman's Hospital.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excel experience
  • Previous experience with cash handling, deposits or money/receipt processing is preferred.
  • Clerical and bookkeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all duties related to processing daily deposit, including batching, keying, and posting all direct mail and live window receipts by the close of each business day.
  • Prepares live deposit for transfer to the bank on a daily basis, insuring all amounts are coded to the appropriate department or cost center.
  • Reconciles all cash, checks, and credit cards keyed in daily and prepares Daily Receipts Summary (deposit spreadsheet) for Accounting.
  • Monitors and makes corrections when necessary to all lockbox files transmitted by bank.
  • Batches and resolves all posting errors provided by other Patient Accounting staff. Performs any corrections necessary to resolve problems on accounts and assists with any research necessary to otherwise resolve Cash Posting errors.
  • Maintains log book for all lockbox deposits and ensures all payments are posted in a timely manner.
  • Batches, balances, and keys all non-patient cash (misc. income) as part of the daily deposit. Insures that all details are added so that each department can track information for later reporting purposes.
  • Works with Accounting to accurately log, post, and resolve all NSF transactions in a timely and simple manner.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:

Full-Time; Monday - Friday

7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay Range:

Hourly/Non-Exempt

$12.00 – $17.00
