Caseworker

Washington County Department of Social Services is currently seeking applications for vacant Caseworker* positions.

This is an entry-level professional caseworker position involving responsibility for providing social work services for individuals and/or their families, including children, to assist them with their economic, emotional, social and environmental difficulties.

• Conducting face to face interviews with children and family members in their homes and/or in the community (i.e. schools, incarceration facilities, etc.)
• Liaison with other community agencies that are working with and supporting the families’ needs in the areas of medical and mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and other existing conditions.
• Detailed documentation of Casework activities.
• Attendance and participation in Court proceedings as an advocate or witness.

Currently this is a Civil Service non-competitive position through the HELP Program.* - No Exam Required

*The Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program temporarily removes the civil service exam requirement for specific health and human services titles across State and Local agencies for a 12-month period. To be eligible for jobs in the HELP program, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the position and other conditions of employment. More information may be provided if you indicate interest in the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors’ Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university.

Special Requirement: Possession of a valid New York State Drivers' License at time of appointment.

Rate of Pay: $26.57/hour (2024 rate)
