FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - Overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
Under direction, provides direct services to children, young adults, and designated others. Participates and implements program activities and evaluations. Promotes and provides statistics, client assessing community-based resources, and coordinates with family members and ancillary services to secure continued care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts assessments, service planning, case management, crisis intervention, advocacy, linking and monitoring supports and services for children and young adults.
Performs home and community-based interventions.
Maintains department productivity and quality measures.
Complies with Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) documentation requirements using electronic medical records.
Completes MCCMH training and secures continuing education requirements determined by professional licensing board.
Maintains professional relationships with the community, providers, and consumers.
Works cooperatively with members of other disciplines, agencies, and community partners to ensure timely and accurate service provision.
Coordinates with family, aftercare programs, and ancillary support services to secure aftercare.
Participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and supervision with Therapists.
Monitors and evaluates consumer services through face-to-face consumer contact, facility visits, reviewing records, and consulting with family members, and service providers.
Measures the effectiveness of interventions to determine outcomes and identify needs of the consumer.
Works with families to develop family-driven, youth-guided, person-centered plans and coordinates with agencies to ensure fully integrated plan.
Provides clear description of programs to consumer’s parent or guardian.
Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or related field
  • One (1) year of specialized training or professional work experience (documented fieldwork, internship) working with children and families
  • Meets one of the two criteria below:
Meet qualifications as specified in the MDHHS Michigan PIHP/CMHSP Qualifications per Medicaid Services as a CMHP (Child Mental Health Professional);
An individual with specialized training or one year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families and who is a psychologist, licensed or limited-licensed master’s social worker, licensed or limited-licensed professional counselor, or registered nurse; or
An individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or another mental health-related field who is trained and has three (3) years of supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families; or
An individual with a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or other mental health-related fields who is trained and has one (1) year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families
Preferred Education and Experience
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling or other mental health-related field
  • Three (3) years of experience working in early childhood and early child developmental stages
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
