Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Homeless Service is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to take on the role of Case Manager / Family Coach for our Bethlehem Housing Program. Bethlehem Housing takes a holistic approach to guiding families out of homelessness. We assist with rapid re-housing and intensive case management.
The Case Manager/Family Coach supports families through their journey out of homelessness and into self-sufficiency. This position is responsible for a minimum caseload of 15 families and a maximum number of 20. The Family Coach will provide intense case management, appropriate referrals, goal setting and case planning to ensure long term success for families.
This position requires travel throughout the 8 civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Washington, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles and St. James Parish.
This position requires strong organizational, relational, communication, and data entry skills plus the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time. The Case Manager/Family Coach will be working in a fast paced environment and must be able to provide excellent case management to families under these circumstances. Proficiency in Word, Client Track, HMIS and Internet Applications is essential. Applicant must be knowledgeable of the Fair Market Rate to provide accurate cost of housing to families. Applicants should have demonstrated the ability to relate well to people of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds and have a commitment to CCANO's mission. Reliable transportation and the ability to be mobile are requirements to complete monthly home visits, housing search and attend meetings regularly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related social service field. Master's Degree is preferred but not required
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are a must for the position
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required
- Three years of case management experience with homeless population preferred but not required
Essential Functions
- Complete initial intake assessments
- Locate housing, network with landlords, assist with lease negotiations
- Complete monthly rental transmittals to assure landlord timely rental payments
- Complete home inspections to assure habitable living before families sign lease
- Order furniture and appliances as needed for families
- Complete monthly home visits, phone calls including crisis calls
