POSITION OVERVIEW**
The Structural Technician plays a key role in the manufacture of Structural CLT at Sterling. This position works closely with Leadership and Teammates mastering all the finishing methods, techniques and quality standards associated with bringing CLT to a more completed state. This position also rotates to perform material handling and can advance towards performing the machining aspects of the job to increase the flexibility of the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Consistently demonstrate commitment and support for the Sterling Vision and Mission, policies, and procedures.
- Assume other responsibilities and complete tasks as assigned to meet the on-going needs of the organization.
- Promotes self-safety via conforming practices to JSA's and Work Instructions, the wearing of all appropriate PPE, correct use of all hand and power tools, and keeping the workspace/floor clear of debris and clutter.
- Promotes the safety of the Team.
- Self-check the quality of workmanship.
- Master the reading and comprehension of part drawings as it pertains to the finishes and treatments that each part is to receive.
- Follow cleanliness and tool standards via the 5S visual factory standards and end-of-day clean- up and tool placements.
- Safely operate a fork truck and perform fork driver duties on a job rotational basis.
- Help and assist whenever required by the area leader.
- Develop and master the following skills required as core duties within the Finishing Department:
- Gap filling and sanding
- Application, measuring, and trimming of Vaproshield protective membrane.
- Application of protectant coatings (KP-11, KP-12)
- Machining pockets and installing lifting pins and other devices.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**

- Self-starter, ability to handle criticism, flexible, works well with limited direction.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment both within a team or independently.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Proficient with power tools including saws and sanders.
- Forklift and/or Overhead Crane operation
- Ability to work in a Team environment.
- Superior attendance and commitment.
- Ability to use the following measurement devices:
- Measuring tape
- Calipers
EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in woodworking and/or carpentry.
- CPR / First Aid Certification preferred, but will train.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
