The Career Specialist for the Pittsburgh Program is responsible for supporting VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs job seekers who register in the program for job placement or career progression services. The Career Specialists work under the direction of the Senior Director of Team Production and Compliance. They work with other team members to ensure the successful delivery of VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs services to our military-affiliated job seekers in the southwestern PA region. Services include: assessment of skills and identification of jobs that meet those skills, targeted resume assistance, interview prep and mock interview assistance, assistance targeting LinkedIn, identification of training programs that would help make the individual more visible in their chosen field, etc.
CAREER SPECIALIST DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:
1. Assesses military-affiliated applicant's job readiness and recommends job placement solutions, utilizing his/her resume knowledge and VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs training resources. Devises a working plan to fit applicant needs, tracks and documents progress and revisits plans as needed. Provides continuous outreach to assigned military-affiliated applicants
2. Assists applicants in their job search by: offering new search strategies, resume critiques, connecting them with VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs employer Hot Jobs whenever possible, searching job requisitions in database and job vacancies online, and encouraging them to take our online training.
3. Works closely with project RCS and Program Manager on a daily and weekly basis to support job seekers by identifying local opportunities for employment, networking, mentorship, and professional growth.
4. Contributes to the team during team calls and otherwise and assists/mentors new team members on navigating and using our database and interacting with applicants.
5. Completes reports of applicant data as required by Senior Director of Team Production and Compliance.
6. Develops and maintains relationships as well as confidentiality with applicants, corporate partners, and military family centers.
7. Outreach and relationship building with local employment agencies, military installations, other Veteran Service Organizations is expected as well as attendance at events to represent VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs.
8. Adherence to VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs policies and procedures.
9. Outreach and relation building with local employment agencies, military installations, other Veteran Service organizations is encouraged. Some traveling to local events to represent VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs is expected
10. Other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Team Production and Compliance.
