WORK DAYS: 191 days (Student Days) - 191 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
SALARY: Range 18, $18.36 to $25.62 hourly rate (depending on prior experience)

TITLE: Campus Security, Arroyo Grande High School
SALARY RANGE: 18
JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, ensures the security of the campus and coordinates, in conjunction with the police department, the patrolling of school grounds and surrounding areas; and assists in developing programs and policies regarding the supervision of students during the school day and at other times as needed; works cooperatively to provide for a school-wide discipline program; coordinates and directs the school's attendance programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required:
- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Prior leadership with high school students.
- Knowledge of school rules and regulations; legal responsibilities and restrictions in dealing with juveniles; social and personal needs of high school age students; applicable traffic laws, state and local laws and regulations; principles of communicating with high school age students; attendance procedures; proper English usage.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in diverse age groups; deal tactfully and effectively with students, parents, teachers, other staff members and the public; supervise students to ensure appropriate behavior; enforce rules firmly and fairly; read, write and understand English; follow written and oral instructions; maintain effective and efficient working relationships with supervisory and management personnel and subordinates.
- Possess valid California driver's license.
- Desirable:
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
- Associate of Arts degree and/or courses in Police Science.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Patrol the school grounds during the day to ensure the security of the high school campus and the safety of the students and staff.
- Prevent the presence of unauthorized persons on the campus and prevent the unauthorized leaving of the campus by students.
- Direct the efforts of support personnel when they are monitoring hallways, snack bar, restrooms and other areas to ensure the orderly passing of the students.
- Open and close, lock and unlock, gates and restrooms.
- Direct the supervision in snack bar lines at break and lunch.
- Coordinate, in conjunction with the police department and administration, the patrol and supervision of the parking lots and areas surrounding school.
- Monitor the area immediately surrounding the school to prevent inappropriate student behavior and illegal parking by student.
- Coordinate, with administration, and direct the attendance and tardiness programs, special attendance incentives or other programs of the school.
- Supervise and direct district personnel and students during school day events and special events such as dances, athletic events, concerts, etc.
- Escort students from classes to the office when summoned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- See and hear well enough to effectively supervise students.
- Speak well enough to be heard by students indoors and outdoors and to converse on the phone.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate locks, perform clerical tasks.
- Ability and willingness to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift.
SUPERVISION: Under the immediate supervision of the Principal or designee.
