Job Description Summary
Under minimal supervision from the Controller, ensure timely and uninterrupted traffic of incoming, outgoing, and interoffice university mail to its designation as well as service the postal needs of faculty, staff and students.


Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
  • Ensure that all postage machines are always in working order and take responsibility for seeing that they are repaired.
  • Implement and oversee Qtrak software to scan, send notifications, and load lockers in coordination with the shipping and receiving department for after hours access to packages in lockers.
  • Implement and oversee chargeback accounting software in coordination with the business office to charge postage back to the departments.
  • Act as liaison between the university and the United States Post Office with regard to keeping informed of new postal regulations, rates, services, etc.
  • Perform when necessary weekly cash and inventory check outs with regard to stamps, petty cash, meter readings, etc.
  • Act as liaison between University and outside public sources, disseminating information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Train, develop and supervise the work of the part-time mail room clerk and student worker(s).
  • Sort incoming and interoffice mail and distribute to departmental and student mail boxes.
-Sort, weigh and stamp all outgoing mail on a timely basis and effectively meet afternoon mail deadline. -Service postal needs of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis, i.e., sale of stamps, answering postal questions, etc.
  • Assist with large/bulk mailings on an as-needed basis.
  • Deliver “special mailings” to post office as required.
  • Attend postal meetings/seminars as required.
  • Lifting of packages
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma, or equivalent credentials, strong knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software programs, excellent organizational skills and the ability to disseminate information in a clear concise manner, ability to work independently without direct supervision plus the ability to consistently meet deadlines required.


Preferred Qualifications
Prior postal experience and supervisory experience preferred. Experience with mail software a plus. Post-secondary degree a plus but not required.

Essential Duties

Work hours
Full-time, typical work hours: 8:00-4:30.
