Camp Teacher, Level Up Stem

DESCRIPTION:

Teacher will guide 6th-8th grade students through a STEM based curriculum. Teachers will implement learning experiences in collaboration with the Science department and PROPEL & Level Up. Teachers will facilitate the learning of students using inquiry-based learning techniques. Teachers will facilitate two 2 ½ hour STEM courses per day, for a one-week Level Up STEM Camp. Teachers will have an opportunity to select and teach courses based on a curriculum provided chosen by them.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promote healthy academic behaviors in children in a developmentally appropriate manner
• Establish a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to learning and enables students to demonstrate agency, ownership, and reflection
• Facilitate students utilizing the inquiry-based learning model
• Mentor and work with student counselors
• Support and participate in the professional learning community to deepen the understanding of the curriculum, content, and competencies

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
• Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education or a STEM related field
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents

This part-time hourly position reports to the STEM Supervisor
