Salary:

We are looking for a driven, passionate, detail-oriented and positive person to join our Base Camp Greenland team on our East Greenland Arctic Adventure program. This is a contract position that will be an important role in ensuring the success of one of Natural Habitat Adventures’ (Nat Hab) most important programs.  
 
Time & Seasonality Requirements:
This is a field-based, seasonal contract position from the beginning of July until mid-September. Our Greenland Base Camp is on a remote island where independent travel is not possible. While your hours will vary from day to day, it is certain that you will need to work long hours every day in order to accomplish our goal of ultimate customer service. It is understood that at times it takes very early mornings and late evenings to accomplish our goals. This role reports to the Camp Manager. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Review furniture layout and placement guidelines with Nat Hab staff prior to the start of the season.
  • Set up interior furnishings and décor in all guest tents at the start of the season.
  • Cross check and update inventory of all interior items against end of season documentation, as placed during set up. 
  • Conduct daily cleaning and upkeep of guest tents, bathrooms and communal spaces including dining room, shower building and yurt. Daily cleaning includes emptying trash bins, wiping and sanitizing surfaces, sweeping or mopping and any additional tasks required to ensure a high overall standard of cleanliness.
  • Ensure shower and bathroom supplies are well stocked including toiletries and water jugs.
  • Work alongside camp staff to maintain a clean and tidy environment in the kitchen and pantry.
  • Perform and oversee housekeeping duties on turnover days including changing linens and towels, restocking supplies and thoroughly cleaning all guest-facing spaces and tents.
  • Monitor and ensure adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and linens. Report any shortages to the Logistics & Hospitality Coordinator (L&HC) to allow for timely resupply.
  • Coordinate laundry shipments with L&HC, package all outbound dirty laundry and put away clean laundry when returned.
  • Assist Chef to prepare packed lunches in the morning by helping to make sandwiches, staging soups, hot water, and baked goods. Prepare for the following day by cleaning lunch bins after each excursion, washing Thermoses and Tupperware and restocking lunch supplies.
  • Daily cleaning of dishes (up to a couple hours every day), mop and sweep kitchen/dining floor and entrances. 
  • Wash, dry and put away tableware after every meal
  • Support chef during the day while guests are on excursion with kitchen-prep such as peeling, chopping and washing cookware.
  • Prepare and deliver hot water bottles to guest tents as requested in evenings. 
  • Help team with keeping storage shed tidy and clean.
  • Support Expedition Leaders and other camp staff as needed.
  • Assist with camp breakdown/storage of interior items at the end of the season and work with Camp Manager to again take a full inventory in order to maintain accurate end of season records. 

 
Requirements 

  • Ability to communicate in oral English 
  • Attention to detail and a knack for cleanliness, following checklists 
  • 1-2 years of work in a professional kitchen 
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and communicate in a positive manner 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and accomplish daily tasks in a timely manner 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to work in a remote area for a long period of time 
  • Provide a genuine and elevated guest experience with a community focus, sustainable approach and driven attitude 
  • Ability to work autonomously  
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR  
     

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 
Compensation commensurate with experience. This position will be paid on a daily basis plus gratuities. Work requirements/hours are subject to change. 
 
Nat Hab provides housing and meals in-season, roundtrip transportation to/from Greenland for the in-field season, branded gear, as well as any work permits (if necessary).
