CAD TECH I
Reports To: CAD Manager
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Primary Areas of Focus
- Redlines
- Sheet Set Management
- Plan Set Preparation
Core Responsibilities
- Learn to operate the office CAD system to create base files, sheet set production, and management.
- Address internal, non-design-related relines with input and direction from experienced CAD Techs or Designers.
- Responsible for sheet set management, including printing, publishing, importing, and editing.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of layer control and color-dependent (CTB) plot styles.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of base file integration and x-references.
- Possess a working knowledge of the CAD/Civil 3D interface and/or Bentley Open Roads Design (ORD).
- Identify the components and information required of construction drawing plan sets.
- Prepare plan set cover sheets with directions, including sheet index, vicinity map, and approval blocks.
- Annotate plan sheets with notes from templates and add general dimensioning.
- Perform quantity takeoffs with direction.
- Perform QA/QC appropriate for this level.
- Responsible for completing timecards accurately and on time.
Achieve an 85-90% Billable Utilization Rate. Non-billable activities include company & team meetings, professional development, community involvement, innovation time, culture & engagement activities, learning, and training.
Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
- Attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The position may require a visit to project sites occasionally.
- The position requires a normal range of hearing.
- The employee must be able to lift 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment.
