JOB SUMMARY:
The Cad Plating Technician performs all cadmium plating touch up on aircraft subcomponents.
REPORTS TO:
The Cadmium Plating Technician reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating Airside MRO’s cadmium plating shop
- Sandblast, prep, and apply CAD PLATING to aircraft component surfaces
- Knowledgeable in cleaning and prepping areas for plating
- Knowledgeable in the proper techniques, methods, and written OEM procedures regarding CAD PLATING applications.
- Document all plating performed on articles per Airside MRO procedures for record keeping
- Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment
- Load and unload the blast cabinet
- Ability to mask and apply protection for aircraft components appropriately
- Utilizing PPE equipment effectively, hazardous waste compliance is followed
- Bring shortages of supplies to the attention of the supervisor for replenishment
- Works from oral and written instructions and established procedures
- Responsible for the quality of own work
- Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly and works in accordance with general safety practices
- Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to perform CAD PLATING operations
- Detail-oriented with mechanical inclination
- Superior and careful workmanship
- Ability to perform consistently under stressful conditions
- Ability to learn new skills and methods
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Sufficient oral and verbal communication skills, as needed, to discuss equipment malfunctions and complete reports
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of plating experience in the aviation industry
- Prior experience in FAA Part-145 MRO environment is preferred, but not required.
- Prior experience with OEM specs, manuals, and drawings is preferred.
- Familiar with the use of precision measuring tools
- Basic knowledge of match and chemistry as it applies to the plating field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces
- Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders
- Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 70 pounds at a time
- Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools and equipment
- Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects
