CAD Designer III
The Blueprint (Role Profile)
Reporting to the Director, R&D Engineering, the CAD Designer III will be responsible for transforming product design intent into working CAD models and drawings. All modeling and drafting is done using Creo and data management is done using Windchill. This role supports hand tools new product development and any related R&D activities. The candidate will collaborate with the engineering teams to support the acceleration of the new product development process.

The Build (Responsibilities)
Create or modify complex 3D models and assemblies, including organic surfaces and multi-shot injection molded designs
Prepare detailed drawings in a standard layout, including material requirements, specifications, and all requirement of a finalized design
Revise existing drawings as required by the Engineering Change process
Recommend appropriate design changes to engineering personnel
Assure appropriateness of mechanical design, dimensional accuracy and completeness of details, notes, views, etc.
Prepare assembly models and drawings with bills of material required for procurement of parts
Manage data and files in a Windchill PLM/PDM system
Make basic computations for stackup of components to validate designs
Establish and share with engineers best in industry practices for drafting and modeling standards
Subject matter expert (SME) on CAD tools and established modeling and drafting standards
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
Associates Degree in a technical related curriculum
7+ years of experience with solid modeling (parametric modeling approach) and drafting in a 3D CAD system
In depth experience and direct management of engineering data in a PDM/PLM system
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast pace new product development environment, demonstrating flexibility to shift tasks, schedules and priorities
Continuous improvement mindset is a must
Proficient in use of PTC Creo and Windchill, preferred
ASME GDTP Y14.5 Certification, preferred
