Job Title: CAD Designer I 1st Shift
Job Location: Dayton, Tennessee (no relocation offered for this position)
FLSA Status: Office Hourly - Indirect
Shift: Monday through Friday with overtime as needed
On-Site position, no virtual or remote work
Summary
Designs, develops and provides support for Suburban products and accessories. Develops CAD models, layouts, assemblies and drawings and is responsible for maintaining engineering documentation. Contributes to project teams and manages engineering CAD projects/activities to meet customer or business needs to the highest level of customer satisfaction. Mentors peers and team members.

Creates electronic CAD models, layouts, assemblies and drawings. Maintains the workflow within the department.

Prepares and processes engineering change documentation.

Managesprojects that either improve or modify a product to meet a specific customer or business need. Provides regular project updates to management. Takes ownership of a project from inception to completion.

Contributes to project teams for R&D, NPD and sustaining engineering.

Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering during prototype/pilot processes to minimize cost, improve DFM and improve total product quality.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities
- Fulfills the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Technical/Vocational degree, with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or equivalent combination of professional experience and education.
- 0-5 years experience in prototype design and modeling.
- 0-5 years experience in designing Mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies with proven ability to take a design from concept through production.
- 0-5 years experience with CAD (SolidWorks).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in the use of SolidWorks CAD.
- Working knowledge of MS Office software and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes (i.e. sheet metal, injection molding, etc.).
- Working knowledge of tolerance stack up.
- Working knowledge of GD&T manufacturing technique and inspection methods.
- Ability to be creative and take abstract concepts to create concrete drawings.
- Ability to work within detailed procedures but able to make decisions based on organizational policy and/or precedent.
- Skilled at following daily set priorities; however expected to evaluate and respond to new situations requiring immediate attention. Work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of equipment requiring involved set up, adjustments and operational procedures (word processing equipment, personal computer, scanners and digital copier/printer).

Equipment Used
Measurement equipment, Telephone, calculator, computer, copier, printer, and other business/office equipment.
Environmental Conditions
The majority of time is spent in the manufacturing environment and in the QA lab. Occasional overtime is required.
