OPPORTUNITY
The selected candidate for this position will be an integral member of the Counseling and College Persistence Team, leading the organization's work on a comprehensive support program utilizing persistence and retention best practices to create a system of structure and support for our alumni as they matriculate and persist at colleges and universities across the United States. They will create programs and curricula that support our alumni throughout their college and university journey and into their initial career calling. They will also play a pivotal role in supporting our new Black Student Success Program at a specific Green Dot High School cohort.
This is a Central Office position which will require travel between schools and the Central Office. The College and Career Success Coordinator works year-round and is a grant-funded position ending on October 15, 2026.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish relationships with college and university stakeholders in various areas, including but not limited to: student engagement, admissions, student support services, career services, counseling support, student activities, residential life, etc.
Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities for first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds and/or high needs populations
Maintain communication with alumni via various platform such as text, email, phone approx.
Utilize the Alumni Data Tracking system Google sheet to track support and outreach to monitor college persistence and increase post-secondary attainment among Green Dot graduates.
Support students with general college resource navigation as they transition from high school into college/workforce.
Act as a liaison to colleges (UC, CSU, HBCU, CC) and workforce resources and support students as they transition out of high school
Understanding of community college transfer resources, requirements, and knowledge of alternative post-secondary pathways
Work directly with colleges and universities to gain a better understanding of all support mechanisms offered to students on each campus
Build partnerships and execute MOUs with post-secondary institutions
Knowledge of the college admissions and financial aid process (FAFSA and California Dream Act)
Create and distribute college transition 1-pager resources to students
Experience with event planning and coordination
Collaborate with the Director of College and Career Success Programs on student and family events, such as: Launch to College and Career and Summer Transition Workshops.
Coordinate programs to provide resources and access for specialized subgroups such as African American Achievement, Emerging Bilinguals, and Foster youth
Collaborate with College Success Advisors on best-fit colleges and post-secondary transitions
Coordinate with Directors and managers. Lead Designee to ensure to and through college persistence programs are being implemented
Create programs and experiences that build or re-energize alumni and design and develop a cultivation process for building an alumni association
Manage communications and manage college access partners engagement
Manage alumni communications through social media and email.
Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to track and share outcomes across initiatives
Participate in Green Dot and individual professional development programs
Attend and participate in all team meetings and professional development sessions
Plan and participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with Director of College and Success Programs
QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you:
> have a bachelor's degree in any discipline (required)
> hold a valid School Counseling PPS or teaching credential (required)
> have a minimum of one year of successful work experience in delivering educational support services to disadvantaged students, preferably with educational equity or college access program (preferred)
> possess basic knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements
> possess basic knowledge of academic programs, including curricula and admissions requirements at higher education institutions
> possess basic knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, UBCU, CSU, CC, Private Colleges), and transition supports and the ability to explain procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives
> possess basic knowledge working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
> have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, & written communication skills (required)
> are able to organize and plan complex projects and activities
> are able to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
> can exhibit flexibility and high social-emotional competence
> are able to establish rapport and relationships with high school personnel, students, families, community members, university departments and faculty members
> are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot's mission and the communities we serve
> will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $102,000. Opportunities for salary growth are available over time; however, offers near the upper end of the salary range are uncommon. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers. In addition, if hired by June 30, 2024, this position qualifies for a one-time $2,500 signing bonus, paid in two installments after months 6 and 12 of employment (subject to change).
