SUMMARY
This is technical and specialized work in the purchasing of equipment, materials and supplies.
Work involves detailed duties in the requisitioning and purchase of supplies and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and requires the use of independent judgment and initiative in the preparation and review of customer request specifications, the receipt of bids or quotations, initiating customer purchase orders, and the delivery of commodity once purchase order is placed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives, examines and processes customer requisitions; prepares bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment; locates source of supply, coordinates delivery and places orders with appropriate bidder(s). Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials and equipment. Corresponds with vendors. Confers with and assists officials of all departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications. Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Graduation from an accredited college or university or a purchasing certification is preferred. A minimum of one year working in an Aerospace or Governmental buying environment is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures required.
Considerable knowledge of methods of analyzing supplies and materials desired.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors.
Knowledge of basic computer operation required.
Proficiency using MS Office and Outlook software required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $39,000.00 per year
