Job Description
Buyer - Procurement Clerk will report to the Procurement Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Procures a wide variety of supplies, equipment, materials, goods, and services on behalf of the company
- Performs these functions within the guidelines and procedures established through either written or verbal instructions using company authorized software
- Processes requests for quotes (RFQ)
- Negotiates with vendors for best price/delivery/payment terms where appropriate
- Verifies budgets and assigns proper cost codes
- Maintains accurate purchasing and inventory records
- Assists accounting department with purchasing discrepancies that arise
- Maintains existing vendor relationships in conjunction with Purchasing Manager
- Reports to the Purchasing Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with emphasis in office work including purchasing responsibilities
- Proficient math skills
- Above average communication skills
- MS Office and general computer software knowledge – ERP systems are a plus
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours including: possible mandatory overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
- Ability to work respectively and respectfully with others and work independently
- Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as may be encountered in warehouses and storage units.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds
