Immediate hiring to work in our Electronic Manufacturing company as a buyer/ purchaser we service multiple industries including aerospace, defense, medical, and precision industrial controls.
This position is responsible for quoting and/or purchasing of raw material / finished goods inventory (emphasis on quoting) specifically for electronic and mechanical components for printed circuit card assemblies and either level assemblies
Responsibilities:
Assist the department in developing processes that improve quoting in terms of winning quotes and performing quotes in an efficient manner.
In a positive manner, work proactively with Sales to win quotes, knocking down barriers to achieve positive results.
If required, assume the responsibility of an EMS buyer
Assume primary ownership from cradle to grave for all assigned quotes, driving engineering and other functional groups to finish their quote portions on time. Elevate as necessary.
Create new quote folders and keep them up to date. Maintain Qual-Pro’s quote log. Submit all completed quotes to sales with Quote Submittal form
Competitive quotes are defined as:
- Quoting multiple component suppliers for the best price, lead-time, and/or excess. This shall include identifying registered components.
- Quote multiple suppliers (minimum three desired) for fabricated items such as PCB suppliers, sheet metal suppliers, and outside services.
- Negotiating pricing and terms
- Obtain better pricing on follow-on quotes
Adhere to the policies of the company, procurement, and quoting policies
Coordinate outside processing with sub-contractors
Assist in qualifying new suppliers; expand the portfolio of fabrication/PCB and outside service providers
Provide necessary data for presentations and reviews. Participate in such reviews and meetings as necessary
Working closely with salespeople to customize proposals when necessary. Consult with Sales in ideas of winning quotes and quote strategy.
Assisting the follow-up with outstanding sales proposals in an effort to win purchase orders from customers.

Required education, experience, and attributes of a successful candidate:
Must have previous experience in a contract manufacturing or OEM environment.
Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in an EMS environment as a buyer and/or quote. Alternatively, minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electronics distribution industry.
Experienced in and thorough knowledge of MRP, Bill of Materials, Inventory, and Production Control, including automated purchase order systems.
Detailed knowledge of commercial electronics and components, including military specifications, medical requirements, avionics, aerospace, NADCAP, ITAR, and contract requirements
Experienced in procuring PCBs, fabricated items (sheet metal, injection-molded and machined), electronic commodities (passive and active components), cable assemblies, and process/MRO materials to support production
Ability to read blueprints, manufacturer’s data sheets, fabrication and assembly drawings
Familiarity with schematics and Gerber files
Ability to negotiate favorable terms and continuously improve pricing for materials and services (PPV)
Proven track record of positive and long-standing relationships with vendors and suppliers–More specifically (Avnet, Arrow, Future, TTI, PCB suppliers, sheet metal suppliers, cable suppliers)
Ability to source new and alternative suppliers
Proficient in Excel and Word (Microsoft Access a plus)
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WITH A MINIMUM OF SUPERVISION
