SUMMARY
Responsible for placing purchase orders. Duties include, but are not limited to, communication interface between Pella Corporation, Suppliers, and internal personnel. This position requires excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Problem solving and organizational skills are a must. Ability to develop complete understanding of Pella Supply Management principles and policies are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for placing purchase orders for materials consumed at manufacturing location.
Responsible for utilizing the processes defined by the Materials Management Center of Excellence.
Ability to translate the demand information received to plan and order the correct inventory levels at each manufacturing location. This may include maintenance and creation of Planning BOMs to ensure demand remains accurate.
Resolves purchase order issues including clarification, processing paperwork for substitutions, or modifications associated with the purchase order.
Provides overall assistance to Central Materials Supervisors and their responsibilities as they relate to purchase orders and suppliers' questions.
Loads and maintains part information into FeneVision and Oracle.
Works closely with many different departments and plants to assure that proper communication is relayed to both Pella personnel as well as suppliers, especially during the change order process. In many instances, this person works closely with both internal customers (maintenance, engineering, factory, and office personnel) and suppliers.
Assumes responsibility for resolving problems within defined limits, related to orders and escalates as needed to Supplier Specialist.
Assists expediting of orders to ensure on-time delivery where necessary.
Responsible for communication with manufacturing, suppliers, and Supplier Specialists on delinquent orders. Resolution to the issue will be attempted initially and other resources will be contacted as needed.
Overnight travel to Pella manufacturing plants and suppliers is expected with this position. Travel is estimated as <5% of the time but fluctuates based on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or Associate's degree(A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as standard work, Bill of Materials, change order notifications, etc. Ability to communicate effectively through written or oral communication with internal and external personnel.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
