Planner / Buyer (Hodgkins IL)
The Planner / Buyer is responsible for coordination and execution of all activities related to the replenishment of raw materials. This role is an integral part of a team which optimizes the flow of materials, while considering the plants warehouse capacity and inventory targets to eliminate potential disruptions in the storage, storage costs and avoiding material scrap (SLOB). Execute the development, maintenance, communication, and publication of the Materials Requirements Plan (MRP) to ensure that customer requirements are met. This individual will be using multiple tools and will be working alongside procurement to ensure all needed materials are available to execute work orders successfully. We are seeking a self-motivated and analytical mind that can drive continuous improvement in their role, and partner with other departments within the organization to build strong relationships and report exceptions that can impact organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
§ Execute the development, maintenance, communication, and publication of the Materials Requirements Plans (MRP), including placing orders, forecast analysis, pipeline, and demand analysis, confirm deliveries, provide priorities, etc.
§ Partner with production planning and other departments to ensure business continuity, supply demand, short reports, service, and cost management.
§ Track and provide updates on assigned key performance metrics (KPIs) like Inventory, E&O (excess and obsolete), new buys, past due orders, confirm and unconfirm orders, push pull and cancelled MRP messages.
§ Procurement and sourcing commodities and/or category.
§ Attending production/project meetings to help drive initiatives and reporting.
§ Understanding of inventory policy and execution with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction and minimizing costs.
§ Participate in new product launches to ensure success of initial production runs.
§ Data analysis and reporting “advanced excel and power point”.
Education and Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s degree in business in Engineering or Manufacturing field required.
§ 2-4 years’ experience in purchasing, production planning and procurement.
§ Excellent communication skills
§ Microsoft excel (advance level) is a must.
§ Strong familiarity with ERP and MRP systems like M3 Infor, BAAN, Oracle, and SAP are a must.
§ Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills with the ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports.
§ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
§ APICS certification strongly preferred.
