Busser / Bar Back Job Description
We are searching for candidates who will enjoy working with others in a fast-paced culinary environment and who have a desire to help create an enjoyable dining experience for guests. Busboys aim to support other team members by cleaning and resetting tables, ensuring the availability of flatware and plates, and bringing guest needs to the attention of waitstaff. They also restock necessary items, such as napkins and straws, and may assist with washing dishes. Suitable candidates should be efficient, attentive, and have strong customer service skills.
We work a 40 hour work week (over time in summer months) in 4 days. You have 3 days off.
Busser Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
- Work with restaurant staff to create a positive dining experience for guests.
- Alert servers when tables are in need of attention, i.e. empty drinks etc.
- Clean tables and remove dishes after the party leaves.
- Carry loads of soiled dishes to the dishwasher to be cleaned.
- Wipe down tables.
- Ensure availability of clean dishes, flatware, glasses, straws, napkins, and other dining materials.
- Put clean ware away in its place. (Dishes, banquet equipment, etc.)
- Ensuring bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
- Assist with opening and closing duties; restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
- Keep the tables and bar area clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Assist with making utensils roll-ups and ensure that all areas are neat and prepared for the next service.
- Bag ice as needed; keep ice cooler filled (at least halfway) at all times.
- Be able to remain focused and on-task during busy hours.
- Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making minor repairs or changing out kegs, if needed.
- Speaking to customers, answering questions.
- Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in reordering process and ensuring that delivered items are stored properly.
Busser Requirements:
- Previous restaurant experience preferred, but not necessary.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Eye for details.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs or more.
- Willing to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Availability to work evenings and on weekends, including holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10.00 - $20.00 per hour
