Job Description: Busser / Food Runner

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and efficient individual to join our team at Light Rail Cafe. As a vital part of our establishment, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, supporting the servers and bartenders, and ensuring a seamless dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in setting up the bar area before opening, ensuring tables, chairs, and bar stools are clean and properly arranged.
2. Clear and reset tables promptly, removing used glassware, dishes, and other items to maintain a clean and organized dining environment.
3. Refill supplies, such as napkins, straws, coasters, and condiments, as needed to ensure they are readily available to customers and staff.
4. Assist servers and bartenders in delivering food and beverages to customers, ensuring timely service and accuracy.
5. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bar area, including wiping down counters, tables, and bar stools, and promptly cleaning up spills or debris.
6. Empty trash receptacles regularly, ensuring proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
7. Restock and organize glassware, utensils, and other bar supplies as needed.
8. Assist in preparing garnishes, cutting fruit, and stocking the bar with necessary ingredients.
9. Collaborate with the kitchen staff, confirm specials and 86’d menu items
10. Provide exceptional customer service, promptly addressing guest requests and inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
11. Support the bar team in maintaining a positive and cohesive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
12. Comply with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation practices, and personal hygiene.
13. Assist in closing duties, such as cleaning and organizing the bar area, restocking supplies, and ensuring all equipment is properly stored.
14. Adhere to bar policies and procedures, including dress code, punctuality, and attendance.
15. Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency and contribute to the overall success of the bar operations.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as a busser or in a similar support role in a bar or restaurant setting is preferred.
2. Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
3. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
5. Ability to work effectively under pressure and remain calm in a dynamic environment.
6. Knowledge of basic food and beverage service principles.
7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
