Job Summary
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) provides strategic technical analysis to business partners and acts as a liaison between technical and business user groups. The focus of this position is to work closely with business units to gain in-depth understanding of banking business strategy, processes, services, roadmaps and the context in which the business operates. Identifying opportunities to find efficiencies and assisting the bank to implement and adapt to new technologies is key along with the ability to communicate recommended solutions to business and technical audiences.
The BSA applies their knowledge of financial business system applications and practices to implement, integrate, research, troubleshoot and maintain the bank’s enterprise class banking software and workflows.
Works independently under general supervisions. May serve as a lead on assigned projects such as application rollouts, system migrations, and technology research while working closely with Project Management. As a BSA you participate in all phases of the systems development life cycle – from project scoping, planning and requirements definition to issues resolution, testing, training and implementation.
Accountabilities
- Liaison between internal departments, application owners, third parties and other business stakeholders to maintain, enhance or integrate systems and data by proactively identifying enterprise technology opportunities or serving on a formal project team in support of new systems and data.
- Assist and influence peers and business stakeholders; lead when necessary.
- Partner with business stakeholders, internal TS teams and third parties as needed to deliver technology roadmaps.
- Create, maintain, and review business process models, data flows, prototypes, business requirements, use cases, and test cases.
- Create and execute multiple project plans at the same time of high complexity.
- Test and validate application updates, report findings to management and stakeholders.
- Manage end user privileges and rights within systems access by adding, removing, or modifying end user access.
- Review issues to recommend resolutions and make application enhancement requests with the appropriate approval.
- Review end user training process: administer training as needed.
- Provides support and tracks issues to address end users’ requests and provides status updates.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
- Provide a service of review for user-facing documentation and standard operating procedures to support usability and issue resolution.
- Gather, interpret, and translate business requirements to facilitate effectiveness and efficiency for all stakeholders.
- Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value.
- Work with key stakeholders to establish suitable processes to support administrative, development, and change management activities.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this job are as follows:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, MIS, or IT-related degree and/or a minimum of one to three+ years’ experience demonstrating knowledge in technology, operations, and business experience supporting financial services to clients
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Highly motivated with demonstrated desire to learn new tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant experience leading system integrations across multiple platforms
- Ability to think strategically and innovatively with the ability to balance planning with execution
- Understanding of enterprise systems and impacts of change
- Assist in enforcement of Business Systems principles and practices within the team
- Mentor less experienced members of the team
- Ability to create project plans or execute pre-existing plans.
