Position Summary:
The Business Systems Analyst will operate in an Agile development environment and function as a Feature Product Owner, focused on defining assigned solutions for mobile and web applications. This collaborative innovator works with a cross-functional group to develop requirements for new solutions to support the goals of the company. This position requires knowledge of Agile methodology including best practices for review of a product backlog, writing and interpreting Initiatives, Epics and Stories. Success in this role will involve efficient and timely communication to technical and non-technical team members, proactive coordination, love of new technologies, a strong desire to learn, a curious nature, and a passion for creating winning customer experiences and removing inefficiencies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advocate for library customer and patron needs within the Product Discovery area.
- Effectively manage and prioritize backlog working closely with the product owner and area product owners
- Develop a deep knowledge of hoopla Digital and eCommerce platforms
- Collect, review, and analyze complex or confidential information to present to stakeholders and to support feature requirements.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational trainings and workshops, reviewing professional publications and other relevant resources.
- Create functional and technical documentation to support designs, implementation, and architecture
- Build trust through strong, long-term relationships with cross-functional Business and Technical teams.
- Communicate effectively with product and technology stakeholders on requirements and product delivery
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum project management methodologies
- Balance the business needs with technical constraints
- Provide clear communications regarding roles, responsibilities, and desired business values.
- Drive visibility and transparency of upcoming milestones, and release dates through the development process.
- Demonstrate effective and collaborative communication with internal team members and all business partners.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Skills:
- Able to elicit cooperation and effectively collaborate with cross-functional, cross organizational teams to create Product Backlog, Epics. Stories, and other deliverables.
- Able to conduct business and system analysis for the assigned product
- A passion for understanding ambiguous, complex problems and high quality, innovative and robust technical solutions.
- Strong knowledge of web, eCommerce, and mobile technologies.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Visio, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven business and system analysis skills.
- Must be detail oriented and possess great organization skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Strong knowledge of library systems and interfaces
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, related area or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience:
- 0-2 years of Business System Analysis experience in a software engineering organization
