Job description

The Business Services Specialist is responsible for general reception and secretarial tasks. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years experience in a medical office.
  • Experience with patient insurance and billing preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers telephone calls promptly; welcomes visitors and patients courteously, ascertaining to their needs and directing them accordingly.
  • Checks patients in, collects copays and notifies the treating therapist, as needed.
  • Obtains information needed to process bills for billing department in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate schedule, ensures monthly schedule is complete and accurate. Makes changes as needed or requested, and schedules follow up visits accurately.
  • Schedules new and/or current patients with appropriate staff according to patient needs. Records referral on log and keeps it current.
  • Registers or pre-registers patients accurately and makes corrections to patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Obtains insurance verification on patients. Documents information on the patient's chart and the insurance forms.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:

Full-Time:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Range:

Hourly/Non-Exempt

$14.00 - $20.00; based on work experience
