Department Overview

The coworkers of the Service Planning and Design organization (SP&D) support the business vision by delivering customers safe, reliable, and affordable electric and gas services in compliance with all applicable regulatory and internal requirements through the New Business Process. SP&D primary objective is to deliver new gas and electric service when customers want us to. SP&D supports both gas and electric operations through its customer project management, design and estimating, dependency, construction, and clerical functions.

Position Summary

The Business Operations Specialist Principal will drive efforts for the Strategy & Operations Support Organization within SP&D on a variety of fronts. Leading change management with internal and external stakeholders for technology releases, develop work procedures and initiate process improvement, lead efforts in waste elimination, and project management around regulatory deliverables including CPUC decisions. Partner with Senior Management on strategic planning and decision making for organization. Assist leadership with New Business strategic objectives such as throughput, Customer on Time Delivery, Customer Escalation reduction, Program Unit Cost, and Customer Satisfaction.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory.

Position will require up to 20% of travel time in work schedule.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​129,000.

Bay Area Maximum: $​207,000.

Responsibilities:

  • Solves unique and complex problems for department and/or line of business that have company wide impact and risk, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions
  • Works with Senior Management on strategic planning and decision making for department and/or line of business
  • May serve as a team lead or provide direction and coaching to other team members.
  • Support effective roll outs of process and system improvements through communication, coordinate and deliver trainings for essential business procedures/processes, and drive development of new resources and tools.
  • Manages communication activities to ensure communication clearly and accurately describe information in common, understandable terms and consistent with company guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Develop internal work procedures and initiate process improvements
  • Assist Management with the leadership of key department initiatives such as system releases and focused initiatives
  • Liaison between various departments and cross functional teams
  • Influence decisions, providing recommendations for change that will lead to the success of company goals and cost effectiveness
  • Support organization as a subject matter expert by providing information and direction to resources through various delivery channels
  • Inter-organizational management of complex and strategic projects
  • Utilize visual management to show where the problem is and make data driven decisions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

•     Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent experience

  • Requires 10+ years of related experience or equivalent

    • Effectively communicates information for the purpose of having others learn, understand, and apply specific principles, techniques, or information.
    • Identifies process problems and opportunities for improvement and simplification and takes action to control and improves processes.
