The Business Manager (BM) is responsible for supporting business management and development initiatives for the global Markets Quantitative Analysis (MQA) business within Markets. MQA is responsible for developing mathematical/statistical models supporting various trading teams with pricing, valuation and risk.
The BM team helps run the overall business by providing governance, strategic and administrative support. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Manager coordinates and manages activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs as necessary. Manages ad hoc projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
o Ensure a suitable governance, oversight, and control framework exists and is in line with corporate policies.
o Manage operational risk, including Managers Control Assessment process; identify and implement control enhancements.
o Manage third party/vendor management process.
o Drive administrative, operational, reporting and quality improvements through partnership with internal teams.
o Manage financial control by monitoring expenses, such as market data, software licenses, technology and occupancy costs. Oversee review and analysis of these expenses for senior managers.
o Maintain internal SharePoint/Confluence site and general MQA policies.
o Work closely with management to support business goals.
o Initiate and lead short, medium and long term projects to achieve the business objectives of the global management team. Projects may be related to control initiatives, expense reduction or process improvement.
o Assist in internal and external audit reviews when needed, providing materials and addressing concerns arising from these reviews.
o Ensure the business is run in strict compliance with all internal and regulatory standards.
o Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
o 6+ years of experience in financial markets in either 'Business Management', 'Finance', 'Risk and Control' etc. roles.
o Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders
o Proven ability to work in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures
o Proven ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
o Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
o Demonstrated expertise of Microsoft Office product suite; basic macro coding experience and proficiency in Microsoft Access and PowerPoint preferred
