Job Description
The Business Intelligence Program Manager provides leadership, strategic planning, and functional expertise for the organization's data analytics program in service of transforming data into actionable information. The role champions the program, driving business use cases, leadership in data management and governance activities, and managing the delivery of data analytics solutions. The manager collaborates with the Information Technology group to coordinate managing the data in the company's Microsoft Azure data lake. The manager regularly liaisons with functional teams and subject matter experts to identify key data and build solutions utilizing Microsoft Power BI or other data visualization technologies. The corporate vision and execution for data analytics education and training across the organization is managed by the role. The position regularly integrates data analytics activities with other process improvement technologies like the robotic process automation (RPA) and Microsoft Power App/Automation programs.
Responsible for understanding role as applicable to compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures, mandatory electric reliability standards, FERC, EPA, EPD, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable governmental regulations.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Business Intelligence program. Develop the roadmap for strategic analytics within the organization and help establish a data-driven culture. Advocate for data literacy across the organization. Train and develop data information specialists (analysts) to better quantify and solve business problems by transforming complex data into insightful and functional reports and drive automation for process efficiencies.
- Provide strategic direction in data engineering, quality, and governance. Ensure necessary data is available and tools are in place to support business objectives. Cultivate a robust understanding of the current organization-wide data landscape, including systems, and data flow. Scale current environment to help support program growth and guide best practices for all enterprise data warehousing functions. Promote best practices in data transparency, cleansing, curation, and standardization across all levels of enterprise.
- Construct and develop critical data visualizations using Microsoft PowerBI for dashboard views to multiple datasets to support business reporting and trending needs. Establish rules of engagement and processes to manage data and analytics requests; prioritize them effectively and deliver within committed timeframes. Facilitate collaborative process with data owners to manage data quality, including processes and tools to monitor, analyze model performance and data accuracy.
- Work directly with all levels of management to set and design success metrics for strategic and business initiatives. Work with department leads to identify key performance metrics and dashboards that can support business performance monitoring and trending and seek to understand other end-user benefits to maximize utilization of BI tools and technology.
- Provide collaboration and leadership with the Information Technology (IT) group's Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Microsoft Power App/Automation resources to support robust project and process management. Ensure processes and underlying data pipelines are well documented, maintained and positioned to drive scalable growth. Align project priorities with technology roadmap and assure return on investment (ROI) for all projects support corporate mission.
- Collaborate with IT and FOC (Family of Companies - GSOC/GTC) on Business Intelligence technology. governance, standards, and resource utilization for successful execution of work scope. Lead regular discussion on infrastructure, resource requirements to support BI Program, new emerging technology, and share best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field. Master's Degree in Business Administration preferred.
Experience: Five years in performing data analytics function, preferably in the electric utility industry or similar industry with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Azure data lake cloud architecture, Databricks (Python or Scala), Azure DevOps set-up, multi-stage YAML pipelines, applied statistical knowledge (distributions, regressions, etc.), Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Command Line Tools, etc.), SQL and Oracle databases, and understanding of cloud security best practices. Knowledge with IBM Maximo Application Suite is preferred.
Plus, leadership and project management experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (i.e., communication skills, systems knowledge, personal and professional characteristics): Must have extensive knowledge of data analytics concepts, data manipulation and visualization techniques (Microsoft PowerBI/ Microsoft Power App/Automation programs), and computer programming (R,Python, DAX).
