PURPOSE
Ascends Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining in-house developed Business Intelligence applications and solutions. They are data experts, as they work primarily with databases and different types of software. As the primary focus of this position is to solve problems, BI engineers must always be mining data and presenting it in an understandable way. They should be capable of creating tables and writing reports on their findings, and they often simplify highly technical language for others in the company.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • A BI Engineer is accountable for researching and planning solutions for existing problems within the company. BI Engineers also are responsible for building OLAP, or online analytical processing. They also work with databases, both relational and multidimensional.
  • Deliver quality technology solutions with the application development team with a winning attitude and in-line with Ascends business objectives.
  • Participate in the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing approaches.
  • Create Business Intelligence tools and reports, such as physical data models and dimensional analyses.
  • Design, code, test, and aggregate results from SQL queries to provide information to users.
  • Create technical documents to document SQL or other database contents, concepts, and mapping between databases.
  • Follow the guidance of more experienced team members to ensure technical skillsets are shared through knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain relationships and alignment with Engineering, System Analysts, Networking, and other supporting departments to ensure maximum delivery in support of business units.
  • Commit to continued growth as a technology professional including enhancing and gaining the technical skillsets required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with data querying or modeling with SQL.
  • Experience with building and maintain basic data artifacts.
  • Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012-2016, TSQL.
  • SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).
  • Power BI, Tableau, SSPS, or other data visualization platforms.
  • Visual Studio 2010-2015.
  • Team Foundation Server.
  • R (preferred).
  • C#.Net.
  • ASP.NET / MVC.
  • Ability to collect data, analyze, gain insight, and make recommendations for action.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree inn a Computer Science or Computer Information Systems field of study or other equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years equivalent work experience in a software development role.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred.
