Business Intelligence Developer

Are you an experienced Power BI Developer ready to take the next step in your career?  We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Intelligence Developer to join our team here at Environmental Solutions Group. As the BI Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions for ESG customers and internal users to provide insights and enhance the value of our products. You will craft and execute queries for data, present information through reports and visualizations, and work with web developers to display this content in customer facing applications. The BI Developer will manage a reporting development pipeline and outline reporting API functions around scheduling, emailing, and exporting data. You will also meet with business users to define reporting requirements and provide troubleshooting and training for reporting issues. Preferred location is Chattanooga, TN but will consider remote under the right circumstances.

What you get to do in this role:

• Design, build, and deploy Power BI dashboards and visualizations for internal and external users and applications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting of Power BI solutions, including investigation of data issues and validations.
• Create and optimize database queries from multiple sources.
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate, plan, and report on capacity usage based on user engagement and number of reports.
• Manage workspaces, report deployment, and data security.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation for report logic.
• Create data models within Power BI using Power Query.
• Create data sets, reports, and dashboards using Power BI from various sources.
• Deliver solutions in an iterative manner.
• Work with business users to define reporting requirements and look and feel of reporting content.

How you’ll be successful in this role:

·        Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; will consider equivalent experience in lieu of education

·        3-5 years of experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools.

·        Experience implementing Power BI dashboards and expertise with Power BI development, Power Query, DAX tooling, data modeling and Row-level Security and gateways.

·        Strong SQL skills – familiarity with T-SQL and Snowflake are highly beneficial.

·        Experience with data warehouse design and dimensional modeling.

·        Demonstrable portfolio of sample visualizations created in Power BI.

·        Experience implementing or supporting Power BI embedded reporting within a website or web application.

·        Ability to interpret and document source code from programming languages such as Python.

·        Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.

·        Detail-oriented and capable of working independently and with team collaboration.
