The MRO Business Development manager drives industrial MRO product sales growth. You expand existing and grow new military, federal, and other customers from the top down or bottom up when necessary. You grow business innovatively, systematically, and adaptively by collecting, organizing, and operationalizing business information toward specific target groups. Using this information you down select, identify, and proactively reach out to customers to build trust-relationships. You remain up speed on the latest industrial MRO machinery, tools, and non-destructive testing equipment used by our customers and share your expertise, advising them on all known procurement options in use by similar customers. As an MRO subject matter expert in the field you remain available both virtually and in person to assist customers. You drive MRO sales by training geographical and vertical sales teams on the who, what, where, how and why of MRO products needed by customers. You study and master understanding of assigned customer locations for Army Depots, Arsenals, Navy and Coast Guard Shipyards, Aviation Centers, headquarters Program offices, or other MRO customers. You interface with end-users, supply officers, contracting officers, etc. solving procurement challenges, building solutions, and becoming the go-to resource to help mission success. You are directly involved in supporting contract proposals, bids, or quotes and monitor assigned bid boards as directed. You attend or staff MRO trade shows and work with vendor category managers to scale in demand products.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Protect, expand, and grow military, federal, and other MRO Domain customers.
- Systematically identify, organize, operationalize, and communicate business intelligence to strategically capture white space for targeted growth, and use it to prepare and execute action plans.
- Initiate and personally lead outreach meetings in person and online.
- Produce new relationships with procurement officials, contracting officers, technical SMEs.
- Attend industry days, conferences, and other events hosted or attended by target customers.
- Develop relationships with military & government customers, partnering with other sale steams to identify customer needs, assess situations, and providing customized solutions.
- Generate a pipeline of opportunities to make annual goals, research products, and work with vendors to make product suggestions based on the customer's mission needs.
- Understand and articulate viable purchasing methods for the customer and assist the customer in determining which method is best for their mission and budget.
- Detail-oriented, as you will be held responsible for contractual requirements passed on from the customer through awarded contracts, some of which may be multi-million-dollar contracts until invoiced.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum three years Program Manager level experience on single-award IDIQ government contracts.
- Minimum three years' experience interfacing directly with military contracting officers as program manager.
- Minimum three years Inside Sales Representative experience interfacing with military customers and suppliers.
- Minimum two years' experience traveling to MRO military customers locations and performing site visits.
- Minimum three years' experience leading 5-10 person size Inside Sales Teams on government contracts.
- Minimum three years' experience interfacing with industrial MRO equipment product suppliers.
- Three years' experience with NetSuite, Sales Force, and Tableau.
- Expert level knowledge of preparing RFQs, Opportunity's, Sales Orders, Purchases Orders, PODs, and Invoices.
- Thorough understanding of Air Force, Marine Corps, Army, Space Force, Coast Guard, Navy customer MRO needs and procurement processes.
- Bachelor's degree highly preferred, but equivalent prior sales & military experience may be substituted.
- Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking managing competing priorities with relative comfort.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills required to analyze customer problems and develop effective solutions.
- Comfortable communicating in person with senior company or government procurement officials.
- Team player that does not get distracted or let obstructions stand in the way of completing objectives.
- Extensive travel required (50-75% or 2-3 weeks a month during busy at times)
- Occasional weekends, holidays, and after business hours during busy periods
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or work equivalent.
- Must understand Government sales and Federal contracting
Computer Skills
- MS Office Suite or comparable software, internet search capability & database creation/entry
- Understanding & experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
- Sales force Experience a plus
